How is fennel extract for dogs dosed?

The dosage of fennel extract depends on various factors such as the weight of the dog, the intended use and the dosage form. In general, you should always follow the manufacturer's or vet's instructions. However, as a guideline, approximately 0.5 to 1 ml of liquid fennel extract or 50 to 100 mg of powdered fennel extract per 10 kg of the dog's body weight can be administered. The fennel extract can be given directly into the dog's mouth or mixed with food or water.

What are the pros and cons of fennel extract for dogs?

As already mentioned, fennel extract has many benefits for dogs. It can improve digestion, the respiratory system and the immune system and is a natural product with no artificial additives. However, fennel extract also has some disadvantages or risks that should be considered. On the one hand, fennel extract can trigger allergic reactions such as skin rashes, itching or breathing difficulties in some dogs. On the other hand, fennel extract can cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting or diarrhea if the dosage is too high or if it is used for too long. Furthermore, fennel extract should not be administered to pregnant or epileptic dogs, as it can cause contractions or seizures.
