Rich in proteins

When a dog's diet says that the food is "high in protein", this means that the food contains a high proportion of protein. Protein is important for your dog for several reasons:

  1. Building and maintaining muscle: Proteins are essential building blocks for your dog's muscles. They help build and maintain muscle mass, which is especially important for active and young dogs.
  2. Body functions: Proteins are also important for many basic body functions, such as the immune system, metabolism and cell regeneration.
  3. Energy source: Although dogs mainly obtain energy from fats, proteins can also serve as an energy source, especially in the absence of sufficient fats and carbohydrates.
  4. Skin and coat: Proteins are also essential for healthy skin and coat growth.

"Rich in protein" can refer to different protein sources, such as meat, fish, eggs or sometimes plant proteins. It is important that the protein sources are of high quality and can be easily digested by your dog. It should also be noted that too much protein can be hard on the kidneys for some dogs, especially older or less active ones.
